ASHANTEES R.F.C Ashantees R.F.C. founded in 1873 with 50 members. They played at Hampstead, close to the station and changed at the ‘Railway Tavern’ on South End Road. The Ashantees later changed their name and became the second Hampstead Rugby Football Club. T The first Hampstead Rugby Football Club having changed its name to Harlequin F.C. in the 1869/70 season. Ashantees played in navy shirts with a white ‘A’ on the left breast. As Hampstead R.F.C. they changed their colours to black. They disbanded at the outbreak of WWI and never reformed.
