Description

The Lennox 1883 vintage rugby shirt is made with a quality heavyweight slub cotton which gives the shirt a hard wearing yet soft and comfortable retro style finish. This British vintage ‘old school’ shirt combines heritage colour dyes with a distressed wash to produce a nicely worn-in look and feel. The Lennox 1883 rugby shirt is completed with an embroidered monogrma logo and the founding date.

Lennox R.F.C. founded in 1883 with about 70 members. They played at Clapham Common, ten minutes walk from Clapham Common Station. The members changed at the ‘Clapham Dinning Rooms’. They played in dark blue shirts with a monogram on the left breast. By 1885 Lennox had already cultivated a first-class fixture list and had out grown Clapham. They first moved to a ground next to ‘The Greyhound’ in Dulwich Village and changed their shirts to black, white and red hoops. In 1888, they moved again, just a few hundred yards down the road to Turney Road in Dulwich using the ‘Crown Hotel’ as their base. In the late 1890’s Lennox would sometimes play big home games at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea.
