The Grapnel 1871 vintage rugby shirt is made with a quality heavyweight slub cotton which gives the shirt a hard wearing yet soft and comfortable retro style finish. This British vintage ‘old school’ shirt combines heritage colour dyes with a distressed wash to produce a nicely worn-in look and feel. The Grapnel 1871 rugby shirt is completed with the red grapnel embroidered logo and the founding date.

Grapnel R.F.C. founded in 1871 with 55 members. They played at the west end of Blackheath. The members changed at the ‘Duke’s Head’ on Dartmouth Row and almost certainly used ‘The Green Man’, also on Dartmouth Row as well. They played in black shirts with a red grapnel on the left breast.
